Okay, so, I wanted to draw something to show Steven Butler before I left the con, so I ask "Hey bro, what should I draw?" and he says "SONIC VS. KAINE!" For those of you who are 90s Spider-man Illiterate (like I used to be) Kaine is a disgruntled clone of Spider-man who's ability to stick to walls is SO strong, if he touches someone's face, he can scare them FOR LIFE! Another thing you must know, if you're an Archie Sonic fan and you DON'T know, Steven Butler has done work for Marvel doing spider-man comics. Mainly clone saga stuff. So I show this to him, and his reaction was something like this.
"This is nice. Oh my! OH MY GOD!"
Shortly after this, he told me I need to apply to Sonic for both Archie and Mega Man as well.
Anyway, here's something I need to say. Saturday, I told him I was going to Commission him for Spider-man. Just to let you know, he gets a LOT of commissions for the Scarlet Spider (another Spider-man clone). And he was kinda astounded because he doesn't get asked for Spider-man that much. The next day, he's getting asked for Spider-man out the wazoo! On top of that, When I showed him my picture, he was like "Man, someone commissioned me to do Sonic vs. Spider-man!" Basically, me and my bro predicted his Sunday. xD
You're not alone. The best part of it was the editor's special comic "99 ways to kill a clone or how to end the Clone Saga" or something like that. Basically about the writing staff throwing out loony ideas of how to end the damn thing. My favorite has to be the "kill Ben Reilly during Onslaught crossover" one where he's just webbing around, monologue going at full speed, and then a Sentinel steps on him.
ARGH! Memories of Maximum Clonage! aaargh
Worse! Spidercide!
Now that was a comic I was glad I bought.
